James V. Monaghan

I am attorney James V. Monaghan and I have been practicing workers’ compensation law since 1991.  I regularly appear before workers compensation judges defending the rights of injured workers. My clients have suffered tragic losses as a result of injuries at work.  I have represented individuals who have sustained lifting injuries, falls, repetitive trauma, motor vehicle accidents, crush injuries, amputations, death and a myriad of other unfortunate events.  With my extensive experience in the courtroom and at the negotiating table I ensure that my client’s rights are protected and that they receive all of the benefits available to them under the law.  I have been recognized as an expert in my field by the Pennsylvania Bar Association.  I am among the first attorneys in the state to obtain the credentials and pass the rigorous written exam to become a Certified Workers’ Compensation Attorney.  I have lectured on the topic of Workers Compensation Ethics and I have written series of legal guides for injured workers and their families.  I have participated as a speaker for the Philadelphia Area Project on Occupational Safety and Health (PhilaPOSH), a non-profit advocacy group that is sponsored by local unions and fights for the rights of Pennsylvania workers. I regularly expand my knowledge of workers compensation by attending Continuing Legal Education seminars on the topic. I am a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association Workers Compensation Section where I participate in monthly meetings that include regular updates on the law.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in 1988 from Rutgers College and my Juris Doctorate in 1991 from Villanova School of Law where I received the Award for Excellence in Civil Litigation.
